Rules and Regulations
The market is held in Devonshire Square, Bexhill-on-Sea every Friday. It is open to the public between the hours of 8.30am and 2.00pm.
Booking a market does not however guarantee you a place. Each market is run as an individual event. By booking a market you agree to abide by the market rules.
Pitch size is 3M x 3M. Producers are to provide their own stall and all ancillary equipment including weights which must be used at all times. You may be excluded from trading during windy weather if you have insufficient weights.
Fee for a 3M pitch is £20.00. If required, electricity is charged at £3.00 per 10 amp supply. Pitch fees for regular producers are payable in advance. Rent is reviewed yearly.
Stallholders not attending a market they have booked must notify the management 4 working days before the market.
All producers and stall holders must have public and product liability insurance to the value of £5 million. A copy of this must be seen before trading is commenced. Stallholders must have any other relevant insurance that is required by law.
All produce must be locally grown or produced. Stallholders must only sell produce that has been listed on their booking form.
All producers and stall holders must display their name and contact details. If selling food they must have and display a current food hygiene certificate. They must also be registered with their local council as a food business.
All stalls must be set up and ready to trade by 8.30am.
All non essential vehicles must be moved from the site by 8.15am.
All vehicle movement restricted to a maximum of 5 MPH by a fully qualified operator.
Stalls must not be broken down before the end of the market.
The whole site is a non smoking area for stallholders (including vaping).
During setting up and taking down stallholders must wear a hi-vis yellow jacket.
Drinking alcohol by any producers and their staff is prohibited on or off site for the duration of the market.
Producers must not arrive at the market under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
No children of producers and their staff under the age of 14 are allowed on site at any time.
Dogs or other pets must be under control and are not permitted on stalls selling food or drink.
All electrical and gas equipment must have the relevant test certificates.
Any electrical equipment that produces hot liquid (tea urn, deep fat fryer etc) must be bolted or clamped to a study table, workbench or must be kept at ground level.
All stallholders must adhere to all local and national laws regarding the sale of goods and food.
All stallholders must remove their own rubbish and leave their pitch in a clean condition.
Any stallholder considered to be not adhering to the above rules, behaving unacceptably or deemed to be bringing the market into disrepute will be excluded from the market.
Physical and verbal abuse is not tolerated.
